A follow to to Yojimbo,, Toshiro Mifune again plays Sanjuro, this time with an even lighter tone than Yojimbi. The movie begins with nine young samurai discussing what they think might be a corrupt official. Sanjuro, a ronin, emerges from another room and tells them that it is probably their own superintendent is probably the guilty party. When his accusations prove to be true. he joins with the young samurai in an attempt to end the corruption.

Sanjuro is a different kind of samurai. He doesn't act like a samurai but is very skillful with the sword.

Another really good movie by Kurosawa in which he mixes action and humor effectively.
